How we can help
Preparing young dancers for their next big step—safely and confidently.
Starting en pointe is a thrilling milestone in every young ballet dancer’s journey. Our Pointe Readiness Assessment is designed to ensure you're ready to take this important step, both physically and technically.
Our experienced physiotherapist will help identify any anatomical, strength, or technical areas that may need attention before beginning pointe work. It’s also a perfect opportunity to meet your local dance physio and learn how we can support you throughout your dance journey—now and in the future.
As part of your session, we’ll prescribe personalised exercises tailored to your individual needs, helping ensure a smooth and confident transition onto pointe. As George Balanchine is reported to have said:
“There is no reason to get a young dancer up on full pointe if [she] cannot do anything when she gets there!”
Because dancing through pain isn’t the answer.
That little niggle that’s been hanging around for months… The hip that clunks every time you lift it… The ankle that pinches when you pointe… These aren’t just twinges—they’re injuries that deserve attention.
Dance is incredibly physical, and with that comes the risk of injury. But pushing through pain doesn’t make it go away—in fact, it often makes things worse and can lead to longer recovery times or even time off from dancing.
At our clinic, we specialise in dance injury management. Our physiotherapist understand the unique demands of dance and work with you to:
- Accurately diagnose and treat your injury
- Modify your training to keep you moving safely
- Create a plan for a smooth and sustainable return to a full dance load
No generic advice. No “just rest for 6 weeks.” We’ll help you keep dancing—safely, smartly, and with your long-term goals in mind.
Your body is your instrument—keep it finely tuned.
We regularly service our cars, replace smoke detector batteries, take our pets to the vet, and keep up with dental and eye check-ups—even when nothing feels “wrong.” So why don’t we treat our dancing bodies the same way?
Dancers place high demands on their bodies, and staying at your best means staying ahead of issues before they turn into injuries. Regular check-ins with your dance physio—whether monthly, every 6 weeks, or once a term—can help:
Keep you moving at your best
Manage small aches or tightness before they grow
Monitor changes in technique, flexibility, or strength
Update your exercise program as your training evolves
Whether you’re after hands-on treatment, a body tune-up, an exercise review, or simply want to ask questions, dancer maintenance is essential to longevity and performance.
Prioritise your body—it's the only one you dance in.
Turn feedback into progress with personalised support.
Do you keep getting the same correction, but just can’t seem to make it stick?
Maybe your arabesque won’t lift past 90 degrees, your développés feel restricted, your splits are flat but your grand jeté isn’t, or you just can’t figure out how to improve your turnout.
Often, these challenges come down to how your individual body moves—and that’s where we come in. Working with a dance physiotherapist allows us to:
Assess your unique anatomy and movement patterns
Identify what's limiting your technique (strength, mobility, control, alignment)
Break down complex movements into achievable parts
Help you understand corrections in a way that clicks for you
Whether it’s mastering that elusive line or unlocking better control, we’re here to help you move more efficiently, powerfully, and confidently.
Build strength, confidence, and precision—one step at a time.
Pointe work is challenging. It demands strength, control, and technique that doesn’t always come naturally—and often, there just isn’t enough time in studio classes to focus on it properly. That’s where we come in.
In our dedicated 1:1 or small group pointe sessions, we take the time to focus solely on your pointe technique, helping you build the foundations you need to dance en pointe safely and beautifully.
Whether you’re:
- Struggling to get over the box of your pointe shoes
- Finding it hard to balance or rise with control
- Lacking confidence en pointe
- Or simply want to elevate your technique and performance
These sessions are designed to help you improve with targeted guidance, personalised corrections, and a supportive environment.
