Clinical Exercise and Pilates

“Movement is Medicine”

Portside Physiotherapy offers individual and group Clinical Exercise sessions run by our physiotherapists. Many gyms and fitness studios offer Pilates classes, however as part of our treatment plans we offer a highly individualised form of traditional Pilates.

With a focus on rehabilitation and prevention, your physiotherapist will prescribe specific exercises based on your initial assessment and goals. These tailored exercises target your problem areas ensuring greater results and minimising the risk of injury re-aggravation.

Our physiotherapists have completed further training in Pilates meaning you will complete a safe and effective program under their guidance. You will use a combination of specialised Pilates equipment including reformers, trapeze table and wunda chair complimented by floor-based exercises depending on your needs. You will learn about dynamic stability that improves the functional strength of your spine and limbs as well as improving posture meaning you will see the results that you want, faster.

At Portside Physiotherapy your Clinical Exercise class will include:

  • A clinical approach - an evidence based technique taught by physios who know the intricate details of your body
  • Individually-tailored exercises - to focus on working the areas specific to your needs
  • Personal attention – ensuring correct technique throughout your practice
  • Use of specialised Pilates equipment - such as reformers, trapeze table and wunda chair, not just floor mats

Portside Physiotherapy offers semi private classes with a maximum of 4 participants in each class ensuring that you receive individual attention. To participate in a Clinical Exercise class you will need to complete a 1:1 assessment with one of our physiotherapists to work through your history and goals.  By completing this assessment you are also able to use your private health insurance to claim your sessions.
